MOVING TO MONTANA

Moving to MT was probably the scariest drive of our lives. At a split second we didn't know if we were going to die or get arrested. The sight you see is our set up parked outside of Seattle at our first of a hundred rest-stops with Mount St Helens in the background. The 1979 U-Haul we bought from Sky's boss at SnoCon in Seattle had not been run in 8 months as well as having a crazy paint job with dancing monkeys, the devil and skeletons. We cleaned it out, started her up, packed it and drove off the next day! Packing a U-Haul when living in downtown Seattle was a whole other adventure I might go into another time. My Rav got a free ride that she desperately needed. However the '79 U-Haul is a monster. Using my Mass plates we drove 17 hours having to stop at the top of each mtn pass to let the U-Haul cool down (pouring water on the radiator). We thought that was the scary part... until it started getting dark. Driving without a taillight, registration, insurance, and a license, we didn't know if we were going to jail or breaking down in the middle of nowwhere from overheating with everything we own in the back. Every muscle was clenched for the last 6 hours of driving. Once we reached Bozeman and pitched a tent; we were mad, scared, shaking and tired. Howie was a very good boy through the whole tramatic experience! We have decided that next time we move, the U-Haul will be empty!!!
